Precise Treatments Using the Latest Technology

Our Glendale team wants to make sure that no stone is left unturned at each checkup that we conduct and every treatment we do. That’s why we use the latest, reliable dental technology, including our digital X-ray imaging system and 3D cone beam CT scanner. These allow us to precisely plan crucial procedures, like dental implant placement, as well as provide early diagnoses of oral health problems that could wreak havoc on your well-being. You can learn more about some of the gadgets that we use around our dental office by reading below.

Intraoral Camera

Our intraoral camera is a small, handheld device that we can easily maneuver around your mouth to gain an up-close view of troublesome areas that aren’t visible to the naked eye. The images and footage that we capture can be easily viewed on our large chairside monitor as we conduct our examination. This is a great resource for us to describe the oral health problem that you face and how our recommended treatment plan can address it.

Digital X-Rays

At each routine checkup, we’ll take digital X-rays of your mouth to be able to see the area that lies below your gumline. The image will transfer directly to a computer, much like how a digital camera stores a photo on a memory card as soon as you snap it. The technology will provide our team with immediate access to the image, and Dr. Upton will examine it in search of any symptoms of problems like cysts, tumors, impacted wisdom teeth, or infections.

CT/Cone Beam Scanner

For more advanced procedures that Dr. Upton completes in-office, such as dental implant placement, we use our cone beam CT scanner. This device captures a 3D, panoramic view of the entire facial structure within about 30 seconds, allowing Dr. Upton and our team to view the location of nerves and sinuses as well as the jawbone and dentition. This blueprint of the face allows us to plan treatments more precisely, leading to higher success rates.

Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry

Our soft tissue laser is an advanced device that completely eliminates the need for scalpels and sutures in certain dental treatments, including gum recontouring and laser periodontal therapy. It emits a small, concentrated beam of light that immediately cauterizes the area on contact, minimizing bleeding and drastically reducing recovery time. It also kills all bacteria, reducing the risk of an infection after treatment.
